The Nevada Griffons kicked off Parents Weekend activities Friday evening by splitting a double-header with the Elkhart Dusters at Lyon Stadium, boosting their season record to 16-6 overall and picking up their first home loss of the season. The 250-plus fans and parents were treated to a homerun fest with six homers between the two teams in game one, including a special Parents Weekend homerun by Kevin Bills and the ejection of Griffons head coach Daryl Bird during game two. ...

100 Years Ago -- June 29, 1903 Two Buggies Collide: Wm. Groutach who lives at Lake Park was badly injured this morning by being thrown from a buggy while on his way to the Lake. Groutach was riding with Harry Cockerill and when in front of E.E. Leven's residence on West Austin Street, Cockerill's buggy collided with Givan's buggy with the result that Givean and buggy were turned over in the street but escaped injury, while Cockerill and Groutach were thrown violently to the hard ground and the latter was seriously injured. ...
