Renaissance program focuses on keeping kids off drugs

The Nevada R-5 School District's Renaissance program is doing more than ever to help students to achieve higher academics. The drug-free program also focuses efforts on an obvious goal -- keeping kids off drugs. According to coordinator Ranae Schulze, who presented an update about both programs to the school board last week, both the Renaissance and drug-free program reaches many students and rewards them for good work done, and leaders try to expand services each year. ...

Nevada Daily Mail Nevada's cross country team placed sixth in the nine-team Carthage Invitational on Saturday. Senior Jon Emery (18:07) was the only Tiger medalist with a 13th place finish. The top 15 medaled. Other individual finishers for Nevada were Jim Fay (19:04), 28th; Darren Chapman (19:44), 36th; Mason Benn (20:07), 42nd; and Curtiss Davis (20:56), 50th; all sophomores. ...
