A fund-raising softball game between the Nevada Lions Club and the Nevada Rotary Club was cut short by thunderstorms -- but not before both teams got a good soaking, thanks to mother nature. As the heavy rain fell, spectators who'd gathered for the event at Centennial Park Fairgrounds sought refuge just about anywhere they could find it, many of them heading for their cars. ...

The Calvary Christian Eagles varsity volleyball team defeated Plaza Heights of Blue Springs on Tuesday. Improving to 7-6, the Eagles won 25-17, 26-24, over the Lions. Sarah Hall's 10 service points, including three aces, led Calvary's scoring. Kylie Kitsmiller had eight assists and Toni Scougal had six kills. ...
