Albert Jacob Hauf, 85, Nevada, passed away on Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at Christian Health Care in Nevada. He was born March 14, 1924, in Dallas, S.D., to George John Hauf and Emma Stinkie Hauf. Albert was born and reared in South Dakota. He made his living as a farmer. Albert came to Missouri in 1957 and Vernon County in 1971 and spent the remainder of his life here. The Nevada Middle School boys' basketball teams showed mixed performances this week. On Monday, both the seventh and eighth grade A and B teams squared off against Lamar. The seventh graders won the B game, 26-22, but fell in the A game by a final score of 38-27. Austin Sims paced the Tigers in the B game with 16 points while Tristan Smith had 16 in the A game to lead the offense...

The Nevada Tiger Pit youth wrestling club sent nine wrestlers to the Adrian wrestling tournament last weekend. The majority of the wrestlers in the Tiger Pit this year are new to the sport, but they are doing very well. The Tiger Pit will be competing in the Fort Scott, Kan., tournament next weekend...
