The AAA Nevada Red sox swept a doubleheader with the Lee's Summit Bulldogs 12-4 and 14-1, Tuesday night. In Game 1, Kevin Martin picked up the win going 6 1/3 innings and Trey Barger went 3-4 with three RBIs, leading the Red Sox hitting. Small crowd attends forum on parks sales tax

Nevada City Manager JD Kehrman answers questions during a public forum to explain the reasons for renewing the city's 1/2 cent parks sales tax at this time, rather than waiting until closer to its expiration. During the forum, held Wednesday evening the in Bingo hall at the Nevada Elks Lodge, Kehrman also addressed the need for a new public safety building and how the renewal of the parks sales tax will make that possible by changing the focus of the tax to include operation and maintenance expenses. ...

Quilter raises money for Joplin

Two days after the Joplin tornado, Nevada resident and quilter Judy Laquidara wrote on her blog at www.patchworktimes.com that she wanted to do something to help the victims of the devastating storm that hit the southwest Missouri city on May 22. What Laquidara proposed to her readers was that they send her a $25 check made payable to the American Red Cross and that she would give them to the local office here in Nevada and let them take care of getting the money to storm victims...
