He was born Feb. 24, 1945, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Vernie Samuel and Vica Mae Lingle Cox. Vernie went to a country school at Black Jack, Mo., for five years and finished at El Dorado Springs High School. He obtained a G.E.D. and two years of college at Lamar, Colo. Roger R. Stone, 80, Nevada, formerly of Milo, Mo., passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Medicalodge in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. He was born March 18, 1932, in McCook, Neb., to Harry V. Stone and Myrtle Bales Stone. Roger was raised in McCook, Neb. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Army and was in Korea from 1952-1954 where he received two Bronze Stars. He then settled in the Milo area where he lived and farmed most of his life...

By all accounts, the 6th Annual Schowe and Shine Car Show held at Dr. Ron Schowengerdt's dental office at 1701 W. Austin Blvd. in Nevada on Saturday was a great success.
