NEOSHO -- The Nevada Lady Tigers tennis team took to the road Monday and found themselves in a very evenly-matched contest against the Lady Wildcats of Neosho High School. Head coach Samantha Short's Lady Tigers ultimately came out on top by the slimmest of margins, taking the match by a final score of 5-4. The two squads were even after the six singles matches were played, but the Lady Tigers ultimately got doubles victories in the Nos. 1 and 2 matches to take the win...

The Nevada High School softball team dropped a 10-0 decision at Pleasant Hill Monday. The Lady Tigers gave up three runs in the first inning, one in the second, three in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the fifth. Pleasant Hill junior left-hander Courtney Fountain limited the Lady Tigers to one hit -- a double by Madi Culbertson with one out in the fourth inning --walked no one and struck out four to take the win...

Leslie Coleman and Josh Byram are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Brooklyn J. Nicole Byram. Brooklyn was born on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. She weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces, and measured 19 and 1/2 inches...

PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Nevada Lady Tigers golf team gave head coach Brian Leonard a lot about which to be happy Tuesday, putting on its best performance of the season at the Pittsburg Invitational tournament, at Crestwood Country Club. Dr. Jeffrey Charles Crawford, 52, of California, Mo., passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at University Hospital Columbia, Mo. Jeff was born on April 26, 1961, in Nevada, Mo., the son of Charles and Joyce (Young) Crawford, both of whom survive. In 1987, he graduated from the University of Missouri with a doctor of veterinary medicine. ...

Nevada Daily Mail The Vernon County Commission voted unanimously on Tuesday to renew the yearly contract currently held by the Mutch Needed Landscaping company which provides some mowing and landscaping services to the county. During a brief meeting in the commission's office, Southern Commissioner Neal Gerster said, "I have no problem extending the contract for another year," so after a motion, second and a vote, it was decided that the contract price of $2,820 will carry over into the next contract and the company will provide the same services as previously agreed to. ...
