Pearl Alberta West, 89, Nevada, Mo., passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. Pearl, the oldest of 10 children, was born April 26, 1924, in Bartlesville, Okla., to Albert A. Watson and Thelma T. Ritchey Watson. She was united in marriage to John M. West, Nov. 18, 1988, in Bellwood, Neb., and he survives of the home...

Winners were announced Friday afternoon in the Nevada Middle School Science Fair and Expo. There were 151 total exhibits, with 134 science fair entries and 17 expo exhibits. These projects are done voluntarily by the students on their own time. The science fair is sponsored by the Nevada Rotary Club, which provides category champions with $25 gift cards and the Best of Show winner with a $50 gift card...

Nevada's annual drive-thru Christmas Light display at Radio Springs Park is set to open Wednesday after Nevada Mayor Seth Barrett lights the Mayor's Christmas tree at 6 p.m. The display will be open nightly, weather permitting, through Dec. 31. Nevada Parks and Recreation Director Dana Redburn plans to reserve the first hour for people to take a stroll around the lake for a different view of the display...

"When I got into the room, I hadn't ever played half of the instruments," Yasuhara said. "I had to do three different things -- play a single instrument piece, rudiments and mixed percussion.
