Loyce Thompson

Loyce Thompson, 92, passed away Feb. 29, 2016. She taught fifth grade in Nevada from 1974 to 1981 and lived in El Dorado Springs before retiring to Chino Valley, Ariz. Ashes will be interred June 3 at Newton Burial Park.

A few days ago, I received a graduation announcement, from a very good friend's graduating senior daughter. When I looked at the front of the envelope, there was an obvious error on the address line that had been corrected. In my address, a lower case error printed 'e' had been replaced with a lower case 'i.' That seemingly insignificant miscue, would lead me to a startling discovery. It appears we no longer teach cursive writing in our public schools!...

Brent Bartlett has been named as the Nevada Lady Tigers head basketball coach, replacing Jenny Allard who recently resigned from Nevada R-5. Bartlett, who took over the program in 1997, stepped away from coaching in March of 2015, retiring with a career record of 301-179. Bartlett's 301 victories over 18 seasons with the Lady Tigers is by far the most in school history...
