Tiger golfers fall to Seneca
Nevada Daily Mail JOPLIN, Mo. -- A talented Seneca golf team romped over the Nevada Tigers at Loma Linda Country Club on Tuesday. Seneca, a ninth-place finisher in the state Class 1 championships last season, carded a team score of 208 to 254 for Nevada. "Tight fairways and trees sent our girls scores higher," said Nevada coach Kelly Gray. Tabitha Pitts paced the Tigers with a 62, followed closely by teammates Sara Copeland (63), Emily Benbrook (64) and Eleanor Horst (65). Other Nevada competitors were Rachel Prewitt (67) and Mayling Butterfield (71). "Tabitha (Pitts) maintained her consistency and moved into the No. 2 position for us," Gray said. Jill Harbaugh, who tied for 31st at the 2002 championships, shot a 50 to earn medalist honors ahead of Indian teammates Jaymi Ross (51) and Raine Lounis (52). Chelsey Hall rounded out the Seneca scoring with a 55. Nevada hosts Pleasant Hill at Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course today at 3:30 p.m.
