Nevada Lady Tigers finish second

The third-annual Nevada YMCA Varsity Basketball Shootout was held on Saturday. Women's high school teams from Nevada, El Dorado Springs, Liberal, Carthage, Stockton, Webb City, Lockwood and Neosho participated in the one-day round-robin event. Stockton, the defending Class 3 state champion, won the tournament with a 4-0 record. Nevada and Webb City placed second and third, respectively, with 3-1 marks, followed in order by Liberal (2-2), Lockwood (2-2), Carthage (1-3), Neosho (1-3) and El Dorado Springs (0-4). The Nevada Lady Tigers fell to Stockton, 60-30, in the championship matchup. Nevada defeated El Dorado, 53-28, Carthage, 39-28, and Liberal (score unavailable) on the way to the championship final.
