Nevada Griffons introduce new facility to public

Tuesday, June 3, 2003

Grand-opening of the spanking new press box at Lyons Stadium was held on Sunday. The Nevada Baseball Club, Inc., the governing organization of the Nevada Griffons and Nevada Little League, signaled the finished construction of the press box and concession facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. "It's an exciting time at the ballpark," said Nevada Baseball Club vice-president Jeff Post. "It's something we've been looking forward to since Tyson Beshore came up wiith the idea of building some new facilities at a board meeting last year. We asked him to give us an idea of what he was talking about and, the next thing you know, here we are. For the people that are coming to the ballpark, we're going to be able to offer more. "There's so many things that we are trying to do to promote a good, clean family entertainment here and this new facility is going to help with that." The Griffons, with a roster about 20 strong at the present, and more players arriving as their college seasons terminate, are coached by Daryl Byrd, an assistant at Hutchinson Community College. Byrd's assistants are Eric Smith, an assistant coach at Garden City Community College and Scott Thomason, an assistant at Central Missouri State University. The season opener is tonight at 7 p.m. against the Springfield Slashers at Lyons Stadium.
