Wildcats exterminate Hornets at Homecoming
BRONAUGH, Mo. -- The Bronaugh Wildcats celebrated Homecoming with an impressive 74-46 win over its Vernon County Conference foe Hume Hornets on Friday night.
The win also kept the Wildcats on top of the conference standings at 4-0.
The Wildcats (14-5) received nice scoring balance with four players in double figures.
Tyler Judd led with 22 points, Mitch Topping had 15, John Whitworth 12 and Will Daniels 11.
Jeffrey Irwin topped the Hornets with 18 and James Brooks added 10.
Hume held a 14-13 first-quarter advantage before the Wildcats ripped off 19 in the second to take a 32-25 halftime lead.
"We were a little sloppy, defensively, in the first half," said Bronaugh coach Tim Judd, "but we were able to play a strong second half."
In the third quarter, the Bronaugh defense took over. While holding the Hornets to eight, the Wildcats scored 19 to extend their lead to 51-33.
A fourth-quarter output of 23 points solidified the win.
Bronaugh hosts Northeast Vernon County on Tuesday.

The Hume Lady Hornets blistered the Lady Wildcats 54-29 in front of a Homecoming crowd on Friday.
The swarming Hornet defense limited the Lady Wildcats to 12 first-half points, while running out to a 27-12 halftime lead.
Hume (14-6) improved to 5-1 as the Vernon County Conference leaders.
Kayla O'Rear led a trio of double-digit scorers with 19. Nicole Hinton and Cindy Murdock added 13 and 12, respectively.
Karenza Frame paced the Lady Wildcats 1-18, 0-4) with 11.
