Vernie E. DeTienne
Vernie E. DeTienne, 79, died Feb. 10, 2004, at St. John's Hospital, Joplin, Mo. He was born Dec. 12, 1924, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Jessie Allen and Myrtle Irene (Parsley) DeTienne. Vernie was united in marriage to Edith Newcomb on April 1, 1946. To this union five children were born.
Vernie worked for Taystee Bread for 30 years and 25 years at Keller. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Rich Hill.
Vernie was preceded in death by one son, Vernie Dale, and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Edith, of the home; three daughters, Sally McDaniel, Merced, Calif., Rene Hanson, Clovis, Calif., Debbie DeTienne, Nevada, Mo.; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jessie Luther, Horton, Mo., and Beulah Imogene Trusty, Richmond, Mo.; and one brother, Joy Lee DeTienne, Sr., Foster, Mo.
Services were held on Feb. 15, at 2 p.m., at the Sheldon-Booth Funeral Home, with Brother John Doolen officiating. Music was provided by Luann Newcomb and Vicky Cumpton. Casketbearers were Ronnie Derr, Bobby West, Tommy West, Michael Simmons, Dennis Engerman and Tom Haner. Interment was in Green Lawn Cemetery, Rich Hill, Mo. Arrangements by Sheldon-Booth Funeral Home, Rich Hill, Mo.
