Ethel Peggy Huff, 97
Ethel Peggy Huff, 97, formerly of Nevada, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, in Universal City, Texas. She was born March 18, 1907, in Brownington, Mo., to James Albert Scroghan and Linnie D. Turpin Scroghan. She married George Huff in June 1926 in Burlington, Kan., and he preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1977.
Mrs. Huff came to Nevada in the early 1930s. She was the first beautician at Nevada State Hospital and worked there for many years. She and her husband first opened and operated the Quick Dine Cafe in Nevada. She was a member of the First Christian Church and Order of the Eastern Star in Nevada.
Survivors include one son, Don Huff, Universal City, Texas; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Opal Evans, Wichita, Kan., and Bertha Parson, LaCygne, Kan.; and one brother, James Leo Scroghan, Edwardsville, Kan. She was preceded in death by one son, James Huff.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 12, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, Mo., with Bill Platt officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
