Theda Fraley
Theda Fraley, 85, Nevada, MO, passed away April 16, 2004 at Christian Health Care in Nevada following a lengthy illness. She was born August 2, 1918 in Bates County to George W. Starr and Golda Scifers Starr. She married Emmons Philbrick in 1938 in Nevada, MO, and he preceded her in death in 1963. She later married Clarence Fraley in January 1970 in Nevada and he preceded her in death on May 5, 1989.
Mrs. Fraley was born and raised in Bates County, but graduated from Pierce City High School. She has spent most of her adult life in Nevada. She worked for 50 years as a beautician in Nevada. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and in charge of offering accounting at the church for many years. She also volunteered for a number of years at the Bushwhacker Museum.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue Lutes, Nevada; one stepson, C. E. Fraley, Wichita, Kan.; one stepdaughter, Dorothy Kister, Dallas, Texas; four step-grandchildren; two brothers, Don Starr, Nevada, Ed Starr, Independence, Mo.; and one sister, Peggy Kuhlman, Moundville. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sherrie.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 19, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Greg Ferree officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
