Shirley Arlene Novak

Shirley Arlene Novak, 77, Nevada, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at 7:11 p.m. at Nevada Regional Medical Center.

Shirley was born July 4, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., to A.J. and Rhoda Fulton. On March 27, 1949, in Bentoville, Ark., she married James Anton Novak. She lived in Nevada for 55 years and worked as an accountant with her husband. She also had owned White Grill for several years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Nevada, and the Laureate Gamma Zeta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, played in a monthly Bridge Club, and was known as a caring, sweet lady.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Jim Novak, of the home; two sons, James Allen Novak, Nevada and Michael Anthony Novak, Johnstown, Penn.; three daughters, Diana Alberta Wessley, Pamela Ann Sandoval, and Linda Annette Gower, all of Nevada; a sister, Barbara Hovilland, Tulsa, Okla.; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Ryan, Shannon, Luke, Christian, Megan, Zachary, Matthew, Garett, Graham, and Taylor; a great-grandson, Hunter; and her cat, Pumpkin. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Andrew Novak, a brother, Howard Wheaton; and a sister, Lola Matthews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 25, at the First Presbyterian Church in Nevada under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Moore Cemetery, south of Nevada.

Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today at the Novak home, 511 Walnut Street, Nevada.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Children's Mercy Hospital in care of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.

Janice A. Davidson, 64, Nevada, died June 20, 2004, at her home in Nevada. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 2, at the Community Christian Church in Nevada, with the Rev. Wes Anderson officiating. Family information will be announced later by Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
