Car bursts into flames in traffic crash

Four people were injured in a wreck Thursday night at approximately 10:15, just west of Nevada on U.S. 54. Three of the four were flown to Joplin with serious injuries and one was taken to Nevada Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.
Penny Moore, 41, Fort Scott, was taken to Nevada Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries. David Jenkins, 20, Concordia, and his two passengers, Breece DeBoutez, 16, Nevada, and Jacob Crider, 22, Boonville, were taken to Nevada Regional Medical Center then flown to Joplin.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jenkins was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi westbound on U.S. 54 at a high rate of speed, lost control of the vehicle, crossed the median and struck the eastbound 2003 Dodge Moore was driving. After the impact Jenkins' car burst into flames. No citations have been issued at this time.
