13th annual Senior Golf Tournament

Sixty-four two-man teams from the four-state area took part in the 13th annual Seniors Golf Tournament June 17 at the Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course.

The 64 teams were divided into the senior division for golfers 50-64 years old and super seniors for golfers age 65 and older.

The championship flight of the Senior division was won by Joe and Glen Borland, Carthage, who fired a 60, 12 under par.

In the senior division, A-flight, the team of Doug Campbell and John Klingaman, Nevada, tied with Al Neal and Ron Cogdill shooting a 70 with the tiebreaker going to Neal and Cogdill for first place. Campbell and Klingaman took second place.

The first place in the senior division, B-flight was won by Gene Hutt, Reeds Springs and Rodney Guinn, La Russel.

In the Super Seniors division the team of Norm Thomas and Richard Lee, Blue Springs, tied with Don McCormick and Skinny Carter, El Dorado Springs, shooting a 65, with the tie-breaker going to Thomas and Lee for first place.

Longest putt hole No. 18: J. W. Burton.

Super Senior Division Championship Flight: 1, Richard Lee and Norm Thomas, Blue Springs, 65; 2, Don McCormick and Skinny Carter, El Dorado Springs; 3, Ken Bacon and Tom Hodges, Joplin; 4, Adin Leach and Dave Eskerman, Fort Scott, Kan.; 5, Ken Dantrell and Marvin Britton, Springfield.

A Flight: 1, Stan Eldrige and Jack Redinger, Osceola; 2, Bob Bure and Bill Greenstreet, Archie; 3, John Moorehouse and Art Farmer, Nevada; 4, Odie Braswell and Jack McElwain, Nevada; 5, Ray Dennis and Paul Darnell, El Dorado Springs.
