Neptunes compete in Monett

The Nevada Neptunes were in Monett last weekend for a meet, competing against 12 other teams.

The Neptunes had several swimmers place despite there being more than 400 swimmers in attendance.

Overall the Neptunes placed 10th out of 13 teams. In the 13-14 age group Kristen Badgley was third in overall points standings.

Badgley was one of two first-place winners from the Neptunes. She won the 50-yard backstroke.

Megan Messick was the other race winner in the girls 10-and-under 50-yard butterfly.

Badgley was also second in the 50-yard butterfly, joining two other Neptunes swimmers with second places.

Emma Denman was second in the girls 8-and-under 25-yard freestyle and Morgan Hold did the same in the boys 10-and-under 100-yard individual medley.

Badgley also led the third place swimmers with two of her own in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle.

Megan Messick was third in the 100-yard individual medley, and Andrew Messick did just as well in the 50-yard freestyle in the boys 8-and-under class.

The best relay finish for the Neptunes was in the boys 10-and-under 100-yard medley. Hold, Lucas Denman, Andrew Messick and Nicholas Conner combined to place fifth in that race.

There were 13 members of the Neptunes that made the trip to Monett. The team finishes the regular season this weekend.
