The Dirt Dawgs, a local Under-10 softball team, won a tournament in Joplin on Saturday, winning all four games they played.

It was the first tournament win for the 12-player team.

The tournament was held at the Four Seasons Complex.

The Dirt Dawgs beat a team from Carl Junction to open the tournament, 10-9.

Their second game was against Baxter Springs, and they won a little more convincingly 9-0.

The third game was against Girard and they continued to play well, pounding out a 12-2 victory.

In the championship game the Dirt Dawgs took on Webb City and managed to win a close game, 8-6.

It was the fourth tournament of the summer for the Dirt Dawgs, who are competing in their first season as a traveling team.

The team still has three tournaments left this summer.

The head coach for the Dirt Dawgs is Jim Novak. His assistants are Jane Novak and Marcy Pritchett.
