Local softball team wins tournament

The Dirt Dawgs, a local Under-10 softball team, won a tournament in Joplin on Saturday, winning all four games they played.
It was the first tournament win for the 12-player team.
The tournament was held at the Four Seasons Complex.
The Dirt Dawgs beat a team from Carl Junction to open the tournament, 10-9.
Their second game was against Baxter Springs, and they won a little more convincingly 9-0.
The third game was against Girard and they continued to play well, pounding out a 12-2 victory.
In the championship game the Dirt Dawgs took on Webb City and managed to win a close game, 8-6.
It was the fourth tournament of the summer for the Dirt Dawgs, who are competing in their first season as a traveling team.
The team still has three tournaments left this summer.
The head coach for the Dirt Dawgs is Jim Novak. His assistants are Jane Novak and Marcy Pritchett.
