Captain Kemper is insane

"Captain" Kemper, the telephone man, who has been here some time looking after the Kinloch long distance lines between Nevada and Clinton, Joplin and Pittsburg, be came insane this morning and is still in a very bad condition mentally.

I.L. McCutcheon took charge of the unfortunate man and if he does not improve he will probably be sent away for treatment.

75 years ago:

Vernon County 4-H Club State Champions

The following telegram was received by the Daily Mail and Post today from County Farm Agent J.A. Muster, who accompanied the 4-H clubs of this county to the state meeting held in Columbia:

"Vernon county won the state 4-H club championship in home economics demonstration teams contest and first honor in the nutrition club competition."

Nevada officers in training for two weeks

FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. -- Seven Nevada military officers, members of Southwest Missouri's largest Army reserve unit, comprising nearly 100 officers and enlisted men from eight counties in the southwestern corner of the state began their annual two-week field training two-week field training tour at Fort Leonard Wood this week.
