With two consecutive wins under their belt, the Nevada Lady Tigers went for three against Diamond Thursday night at Nevada High School.

After a close opening game, the Tigers pounced in the second game to sweep Diamond, 27-25 and 25-11.

"We'll take those kind of wins," head coach Sharla Wilkerson said. "They had some strong hitters."

The Diamond hitters were definitely strong enough to give Nevada some trouble in the first game. After the Tigers opened with an 11-4 lead, Diamond battled back to tie the score at 13.

Nevada would not succumb to the charge though, keeping Diamond on their heels with some good hitting of their own.

After the teams were tied at 19, Nevada scored five of the next six points, but could not execute with four consecutive game points and Diamond again evened the score, this time at 24.

With it tied at 25, Veronica Mosier had back-to-back kills to give the Lady Tigers the win.

In the second game Nevada made some defensive adjustments that accounted for Diamond's hitting ability, and they dominated.

Hillary Adams had a block, four kills and two aces during the second game, as everyone on the floor got involved in the scoring. For the match Adams and Mosier led the team with six kills each, while Brittany Crockett had five blocks.

Nevada is now 3-1 this season, they are in action again in Willard Saturday, at a tournament. Their first opponent will be none other than Diamond.

The junior varsity won their match easily, sweeping Diamond 25-11 and 25-12 to stay unbeaten. Ashley Eaton led the team with eight points.

In the freshman match the Tigers won 25-10 and 25-14. Emma Dryer had 13 points and Jordan Webb had five aces as the freshman are also undefeated still.
