A tradition in sportsmanship

Tim Brazzell takes a shot at one of several targets set up at Marmaduke Park Saturday for the annual blackpowder rendezvous. The event was held Saturday and Sunday and featured re-enactors, some in period dress, shooting at metal targets at various ranges. Some participants set up period-style camps and offered wares for sale ranging from metal, wood and leather workings to knives and moccasins. The shoot is an annual event sponsored by Missouri Osage Territory Muzzleloaders Club. According to Nevada Parks and Recreation Director Carol Branham, 60 shooters took part in the competition which is sanctioned by the Missouri Off-hand Championship. Points earned during the event count toward totals for shooters.
