Letters to the editor
Not an uninformed reader
Dear editor,
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the opinions submitted in the Nevada Daily Mail and Herald concerning the recent election and the Iraqi war by Dr. Goldberger, Charlie Nash and Dan Gayman.
"Hooray," for Dr. Goldberger and Charlie Nash.
If I am mis-informed about the Iraqi situation, it is not because I have failed to get all of the available information.
I read the Kansas City Star, the Joplin Globe, The Nevada Daily Mail and Herald and watch the local TV news, the World News and Nightline.
I am not a Democrat, Republican, liberal, conservative, racist or religious zealot.
I like to think that the only politics I have is Americanism.
I have not reviewed the last 1,350 years of Muslim history, but I have been unable to find evidence of a Christian West 1,000 years ago or more as stated by Mr. Gayman.
I have not forgotten 9/11, nor have I been able to find any evidence of Iraqi involvement.
I know that the United States is a powerful nation, but I doubt that we can destroy the entire Far East or that we should try to.
I spend a great deal of my time reading and studying a lot of issues.
I have also read a Joplin Globe publication (January 2001) Special Investigation titled "Ordained by Hatred" that purports to portray some of Mr. Gayman's beliefs.
The America that I believe in does not discriminate.
Bill Angel,
Nevada.
