Middle school competes at Webb City track meet

Nevada Middle School participated in a track meet at Webb City Monday.

The seventh-grade boys won the meet, while the eighth-grade boys were eighth.

The seventh-grade girls placed sixth and the eighth-grade girls finished third.

The seventh-grade boys had winners in the 100-meter hurdles, the shot put, discus and in two relays.

Tyler Quick won the hurdles, while Lawrence Shouse won both the discus and the shot put.

The 400-meter relay and the 800 relay teams both won.

Austin Baldwin, Tyler Dobson, Brandon Munsterman and Tyler Quick were on the 400-meter team.

Baldwin, Dobson, Mark Weatherly and Ross Wolfe won the 800-meter relay.

Dobson was second in the 200, and second in the long jump. Munsterman was third in the 200.

The eighth-grade boys had placings in all three relays, the triple jump and the high jump, but none were in the top three.

The seventh-grade girls had a second-place 400-meter relay team consisting of Melanie Messick, Davon Smith, Emily Watts and Kristen Kitsmiller. They also had placings in the 75 hurdles, 200, 1600, triple jump and the other two relays.

The eighth-grade girls got a win from Taylor Means in the 100. They got second in the 400-meter and 800-meter relays.

Bethany Balk, Emily Ogle, Shawna Alkire and LeeAnn Stone were on the 400-meter team.

Jordan Bell teamed with Means, Stone and Alkire in the 800-meter relay.

The eighth-grade girls also had placings in the 200, 800, shot put, discus, long jump, triple jump, high jump and the 1600-meter relay.
