Marcena M. True

Marcena M. True, 93, Nevada, died Monday, May 9, 2005, at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada, following a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 4, 1911, in Ketterman, Mo., in Vernon County, to James Rutledge and Myrta Frances Walker Rutledge. She was married March 19, 1933, in Nevada, to Vern C. True of Harwood. He died Dec. 22, 1987.

Mrs. True grew up in Ketterman. She was a 50-year member and a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star in Schell City. She and her husband came to Nevada in 1955 where she has lived ever since. She was a member of the First Christian Church for nearly 50 years. She enjoyed several activities and her long life to the fullest.

Survivors include, one daughter, Jane Ratts Steele and her husband, Robert A. Steele, of Nevada; two granddaughters, Trudy Holtkamp, Springfield, and Brenda Reynolds, Joplin; two great-grandchildren, Matthew Reynolds and Kaylee Reynolds, both of Joplin; and one sister, Inis May, Nevada. She was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 12, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with John Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. Friends may call from now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
