Good crop prospects reported in Drywood Township
John Nunn, of Drywood Township, says wheat is in the shock in his part of the country. It promises a good yield and is of fine quality. The acreage was larger than usual.
He has about 20 acres of wheat.
Oats are being put in the shed and are turning out in the neighborhood of 40 bushels to the acre. The acreage of oats was larger than usual.
Corn is in silk and tassel. It is in fine condition well worked, and the ground in good condition.
75 years ago:
A fatal crash occurs at a Milo railway crossing
Franklin Beisley, aged 24 years, was killed, and his sister, Naomi, 20, was fatally injured and their cousin, Robert McClellan was seriously injured when the Ford truck in which they were riding was struck by Missouri Pacific passenger train No. 216 about 9:40 o'clock Sunday morning at the railroad crossing south of the depot at Milo.
Miss Beisley died at 2:30 Sunday afternoon.
Robert McClellan was reported resting as well as could be expected Monday morning.

Large crowd at band concert at hospital
A large crowd of Nevadans and patients at the State Hospital No. 3, were present for the first community band concert of the season, held last night on the lawn of the Hospital.
The band, under the direction of Floyd Curnutt, was composed of adult and high school musicians.
It is the first community band to present regular concerts in Nevada for several years.
