Elveta Hawes
Elveta Hawes, 75, Nevada, died Thursday, July 21, 2005, at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, following a brief illness.
She was born June 3, 1930, in Womeeka, Okla., to Bonnie Clayton Roberts and Dessie Lucinda Pearson Roberts. On April 17, 1945, she and Alvin D. Hawes were married in Kilgor, Texas. He preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 2005.
Mrs. Hawes was born in Oklahoma and raised in California. Following her marriage, she lived in numerous cities and towns in California, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, and Texas where her husband pastored churches. After settling in Missouri, she earned a Masters Degree from Pittsburg State in 1984. She taught for many years in area schools. She was a loving mother and spent her life serving the Lord. She was a founding member of the Pentecostal Assembly, Nevada.
Survivors include four children, Paula Satkin, Fredericksburg, Va., Tricia Brandt, Nevada, Jackie Hawes, Grove, Okla., and Boyce Hawes, Lamar; six grandsons; four granddaughters; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Doyle Roberts, St. Louis, and Darrell Roberts, state of California; two sisters, Oweta Ledbetter and Leona Lamar, both of the state of California. She was preceded in death by one grandson, T. J. Brandt.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, July 26, at the Pentecostal Assembly, Nevada, with Pastor Dennis Englebrecht officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until 5 p.m., on Monday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. The family receives friends 6-8 p.m., Monday, July 25, at the Pentecostal Assembly Church in Nevada.
Memorials may be given to the Missions Program at the church.
