John A. Houk

John A. Houk Sr, 58, of Bronaugh, Mo., died suddenly Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005. He was born July 5, 1947, in Nevada, Mo., to Hugh A. Houk and Elizabeth Ewing Houk. He was married to Linda Louise Conway on June 11, 1966, in Joplin, Mo., and she survives of the home.

John was born in Nevada and was a life-long resident of Bronaugh. He graduated from Bronaugh High School in 1965. John farmed all his life and had also worked at 3M the past eight years. He was a member of the Bronaugh Baptist Church and Nevada B.P.O. Elks No. 564.

Survivors in addition to his wife Linda include two sons, John Houk Jr. and his wife Deana of Bronaugh and Nathan Houk, and his wife Leslie of Seymour, Mo.; one granddaughter, Sarah; his mother, Elizabeth Houk, of Bronaugh; and one sister, Helen Marie Simons of Rawlins, Wyo.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, with Ray Dean Scism and John Nichols officiating. Friends may call from now until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 7-8 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
