No burning allowed in Vernon County

Nevada Daily Mail

The Nevada Fire Department has issued a ban on all open burning within the city limits of Nevada, and are "strongly discouraging any burning within the four-mile radius covered by the department's rural fire protection services.

Captain Billy A. Jeffries said that due to drought conditions present within Vernon County and high winds recently experienced, no burning will be allowed "until we receive a significant amount of precipitation. Please consider the damage that could be caused to your property as well as your neighbors' property before you start burning. If you want to burn leaves, brush, etc., please call the fire department before you light the fire to see if the department has reinstated open burning."
