Animal lovers organize in response to animal shelter issue
About 25 animal lovers met in Nevada Monday evening to organize a not-for-profit corporation for the purpose of protecting neglected and abandoned animals. The organization, to be known as "Vernon County People For Pets, Inc.," authorized the formation of a Missouri not-for-profit corporation and ap-pointed a nominating committee to recruit directors of the organization. The group plans to meet each Monday night, at 7 p.m., at Donna's restaurant, on the Square in Nevada, until organization is complete.
All interested persons are urged to attend. The group agreed that the most important short term goal is to find home for pets displaced by the closing of the Nevada Animal Shelter. A committee was appointed to make plans to address that need, which will be discussed at the next meeting, March 6.
