Nevada swimmers compete in Webb

WEBB CITY, Mo. -- The Nevada Lady Tiger swim team split a triangular at Webb City Tuesday, defeating Labette County (Kan.) but falling to the hosting Lady Cardinals.

Nevada beat Labette County 95-50, but lost to Webb City 122-55.

Nevada set 10 personal records at the meet, showing their continued improvement in the young season.

Claire Hissink had a personal best time of 29.14 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, winning the event. Nevada had two other personal records in the event as Emily Ricketts and Erin Quest both finished with good times.

Ricketts was 30.83, good enough for fourth place. Quest was 32.48 to finish eighth. Jessica Davis finished 10th in the event.

Hissink also won the 100 breaststroke, with a time of 1:22.12. That was more than seven seconds faster than second place. Quest finished third in the event and Bethany Brower took seventh.

Kristen Badgley won the 100 butterfly, with a time of 1:03.61. Badgley also finished second in the 100 backstroke with a personal record time of 1:03.50.

Elizabeth Burlingame also competed in the backstroke, finishing fifth.

The Lady Tigers won the 200 medley relay, finishing with a time of 2:14.13. That was almost 10 seconds better than the second-place team. Badgley, Hissink, Hannah Ketterman and Abby Ruddick were on that team.

Nevada took second in the 200 freestyle relay, finishing in a time of 2:00.87, a new best for the team of Hissink, Ketterman, Ruddick and Lindsey Webb.

Nevada also had the fourth-place team in the event, with Brower, Quest, Ricketts and Davis on that squad.

The Lady Tigers finished second and fourth again in the 400 freestyle relay. The second-place team was Badgley, Ketterman, Ruddick and Webb. The fourth-place team was Ricketts, Davis, Burlingame and May Ling Butterfield.

Ketterman took second in the 100 freestyle with a personal record time of 1:06.40, less than a second behind the winner from Webb City. Ruddick finished fourth, Brower seventh and Burlingame eighth in the same event.

Butterfield also finished third in the 200 freestyle and fifth in the 500 freestyle, setting personal marks in both events.
