Ruth Butcher

Ruth Butcher, of Nevada, Mo., was born Nov. 28, 1932, in Grand Island, Neb., the daughter of Jess and Dora Metheny. She passed away on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at KU Medical Center. She was united in marriage to Leo Butcher on Dec. 24, 1956, in Clarks, Neb., and he preceded her in death in April 1988.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was employed at Cottey College from 1976 to 2006 in the food service division and loved to cook. She was also a member of the crafters club and enjoyed playing dominos.

Survivors inclule one son, Jess Butcher and his wife, Carol of Nevada; two grandsons, Matthew Butcher and his wife Tamarra, and Justin Butcher; friend, Cas Parrish. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m., at Evergreen Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Clark officiating.
