The Cottey Comets lost their second volleyball match of the season Monday when they fell to Ozark Christian College in Joplin, 19-30, 30-25, 28-30, 28-30.

"Ozark is a tough team," Cottey head coach Marla Kannady said in a press release.

Cottey played "too relaxed" according to Kannady in the first game, and got it taken to them as they were steamrolled.

The Comets bounced back to win the second game, and had opportunities in both of the final two games but couldn't come up with big plays at the key times.

"I feel Ozark was being more strategic with their serving and attacking, and we were caught always having to regroup from it," Kannady said.

Lindsay Rader led the Comets with 18 assists, while Hristina Denic paced Cottey with 17 kills. Vanessa McCoy had five blocks and Dominica Sena had 33 digs.

The Comets are now 4-2 this season, they will be at Fort Scott Community College Saturday, then have their home opener Tuesday when they host Stephens College at 7 p.m.
