Norman Hinds
Norman Hinds departed this life to be with the Lord Tuesday, at 5 pm, Oct.17, 2006, at St. Joseph Medical Center. Norman was born May 17, 1925, in Moundville, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Lee Hinds and Julia Ann Fordyce Hinds, his brother Clifford Levi Hinds and his sisters Fay Fisher and Ruth Weber, all of Nevada, Mo. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Berry, Liberty, Mo., and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his wife of 61 years, Doris A. Hinds, daughter Nancy Lee Brogan, Canton, Ohio, son Ricky N. Hinds, Edwardsville, Kan., grandchildren Shawn Brogan, Katie Snoddy, and Robert Lentz and great-grandchildren, Brittany and Holly Lentz, and Kourtney and Hannah Green.
Norman was a skilled carpenter and machinist at Henry Wurst, Inc for 27 years before retiring in 1989. Norman and his family were very proud of his service in World War II in the Navy aboard the USS Shangri-La. He will be greatly missed by all. The family wishes to express appreciation to all doctors, nurses and caregivers at St. Joseph Medical Center and Carondelet Manor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Diabetes Association, 10580 Barkley, Ste 400, Overland Park, KS 66212. Cremation memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 23, at Crossroads Christian Church, 5855 Renner Rd., Shawnee, Kan.
