Schell Citian dies in weekend crash near Compton Junction

Schell City resident Joni M. Gerster, 28, died in a wreck on Route M, two miles east of Compton Junction Saturday at 8:45 a.m. Trooper Riley of the Missouri Highway Patrol reported that the crash happened when Gerster crossed the centerline in the westbound 1997 Dodge Stratus she was driving.

Adam Arnold, 27, also of Schell City, was driving a 2003 Ford F350 pickup eastbound on M when Gerster crossed the centerline. He swerved to avoid her but was struck nearly head-on when Gerster swerved back into her lane.

Vernon County Coroner David Ferry responded to the scene and took the body to the coroner's office. Arnold reported no injuries.
