Mary Lou Holman
Mary Lou Holman, 67, Elsmore, Kan., passed away on Monday, Jan. 29, 2007. She was born July 30, 1939, in Galesburg, Kan., to James Oliver Morris and Josephine Catherine (Dawson) Morris.
Mary grew up in the Walnut, Haper, and Stark, Kan., area. She graduated from Grant High School in Stark in 1957. After high school she lived in Iola, Kan. She moved to Elsmore in 1968, living there until her death. She married Freddy Holman and to this union five children were born, they later divorced. In the 1960s and 1970s she worked for Don's Idle Hour and The Eastside in Iola. Mary also worked with her husband in his exterminating business. In the early 1980s she owned and operated Mom's Place in Elsmore. She loved gardening and crocheting. She was an excellent cook. Her greatest joy was her family and children.
Survivors include three sons, Mike Holman and wife Lori, Moran, Kan., Ron Holman and wife Kindth, Iola, Grant Holman, Elsmore; step-son, Gale Holman, Wichita, Kan.; two daughters, Susie Sluder and husband Marvin, Stark, Kan, and Teresa Holman, Nevada, Mo.; three brothers, Jim Morris, Alamo, Texas; Kenny Morris, St. James, Mo. and Larry Morris, Elsmore; four sisters, Edna Peck, Iola, Lois Slater, Chanute, Kan., Betty Eytcheson, Independence, Kan. and Lorene Butler, Iola; grandchildren, Jarred, Kate, Jesse, Chelsea and Jeremiah Holman, Christ Wagner, Mary Jane Morrow, Tyler Lero, Christy Poleshal, Jeremy and Jason Holman; two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Moran, Kan., with David Shelby. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery, Kimball, Kan.
