Leonard two-time All-American
Cottey College sophomore Lacy Leonard was named NJCAA Division II All-American for the second consecutive year. The team was announced Friday.
Leonard, a 2005 Nevada High School graduate, averaged 18.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game for the Comets, leading them to a best ever 14-8 record and consecutive second place finishes in Region 16.
It is the first time in school history that a Cottey athlete has been an all-american for consecutive seasons.
Leonard will be playing basketball at University of St. Mary in Leavenworth, Kan., next season.
The 6-foot forward was one of three repeat players from last year's first team, joining Jazmine Sepulveda of Kirkwood (Iowa) Community College and Latoya Wright of Carl Sandburg (Ill.) College.
Leonard was the only Region 16 player honored.
