Cottey, Peace college announce new articulation agreement

Officials at Cottey College in Nevada, and Peace College in Raleigh, N.C., announced Tuesday that the two women's colleges have signed an articulation agreement.

The agreement was signed by both parties last month. Students at Cottey, a two-year women's college, will find the transfer to Peace, a four-year institution, easier. The agreement allows Cottey graduates to transfer to Peace with junior standing and no loss of credit hours, Generally, articulation agreements state that Cottey College graduates with an Associate in Arts degree or an Associate in Science degree can transfer with junior status provided they meet the requirements of the agreement. Transfer articulation. agreements may contain specific information on course equivalencies, required minimum grade point average, prerequisites, designated courses or credits and scholarship availability. Students planning to transfer to an articulated college or university can view the transfer articulation agreement in Cottey's Academic Assistance Center for specific requirements.

"The agreement offers Cottey College students the opportunity for a smooth transition to an outstanding baccalaureate institution. Cottey's emphasis on academic achievement and women's leadership will prepare students to continue their studies at Peace."

Cottey College is an independent, two-year women's college located in Nevada, approximately 2 hours south of Kansas City and one hour north of Joplin, Mo. Its residential student capacity of 350 typically represents 40 states and 12-14 foreign countries. The College is owned by the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic educational organization of approximately 250,000 members, making Cottey the only nonsectarian college in the United States owned and supported by women for women. Cottey is a transfer institution offering liberal arts and sciences for women. Ninety-five percent of Cottey College graduates transfer to four-year colleges and universities throughout the United States and around the world.
