Department of Revenue announces new boat registration rules, fees

Missourians renewing boat registrations must now enclose a paid personal property tax receipt with their applications. The Missouri Department of Revenue has begun mailing a newly designed renewal notice to boat owners whose boat registrations are due to expire June 30, 2007.

According to a press release, rules state that if the vessel is a houseboat or cabin cruiser the tax receipt should be from the county where the boat or vessel is located. Non-Missouri residents must submit a paid tax receipt from the county in which the boat is located.

Registration fees have increased for all boats and vessels. The new rates are: Under 16 feet, $25 plus $3.50 processing fee; 16 to less than 26 feet, $55 plus $3.50 processing fee; 26 up to less than 40 feet, $100 plus $3.50 processing fee; 40 feet and over, $150 plus $3.50 processing fee.
