Fort Scott boys fourth at SEK Relays

PARSONS, Kan. -- Fort Scott High School's boys finished fourth while the girls were seventh at the Southeast Kansas League Relays Friday. Chanute won the boys' title while Pittsburg took the girls' championship by two points over Chanute.
Chanute's boys scored 98 points while runner-up Iola scored 92.
Pittsburg was third with 85 points while the Tigers finished with 76.
Pittsburg girls finished with 101 while Chanute scored 99. Parsons, which was hosting a meet in its new facility for the first time, was third with 95 points. Fort Scott finished with 40.
In boys' events, Zak Al-Shawish took the title in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.39 seconds and Jake Lattimer won the shot put with an effort of 47 feet, 5 1/2 inches.
Second-place finishes were taken by Chris Colvin in the 400 meters in 51.84 seconds, Lattimer in javelin at 162-9 Thirds were taken by Clint Lawrence in discus with a mark of 129-1 1/2 and Grant Hartman in javelin at 144-8 Fourths were picked up by Colvin in the 200 meters in 23.66, Scott Allen in the 800 in 2:11.38 and Barry Park in pole vault, clearing 10-6.
Fifth-place results were recorded by Chris Banks in the 100-meter dash in 11.62 seconds and Aaron Judy in javelin with an effort of 129-11.
Sixths were taken by Charlie Sercer in the 800 in 2:14.01, Lawrence in the shot at 43-0 Results of relays saw the 4x800-meter team place third in 8:56.67; the 4x100 team finish fifth in 46.05, the 4x400 team fifth in 3:43.21.
Fort Scott's girls did not win any events and had one second-place finish, by Kelsey Parsons in pole vault as she cleared seven feet even.
Third-place results were collected by Breianna Jones in the 400 meters in 1:01.75, Annie Gladbach in javelin with a mark of 100-7 and Tiffnie Bradley in discus at 107-8 Fourth-place scores were picked up by Jones in triple jump at 31-11 Fifths were scored by Brittany Bingesser in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.46, Catherine Sercer in the 1,600 in 5:56.19 and Jayci McKenney in high jump at 4-8.
Sixths went to Jones in the 200 meters in 27.95, Bingesser in the 300 hurdles in 53.00 and Courtney Carpenter in triple jump at 29-8 1/4 In relays, the Tigers finished sixth in the 4x100 in 55.03, the 4x800 in 11:37.51.
Fort Scott's teams compete in the Class 4A Regional Meet at Iola Friday. Field events begin at 3:30 with track preliminaries to start at 4:30.
