Light traffic continued to travel on South Spring Street on Thursday, where cones and caution tape have been put up to warn motorists to keep away from the collapsing edges of the roadway after a bridge, on an S curve just south of the Nevada Country Club was washed out. Workers planned to close the road at 10 a.m., today, to replace the bridge.
Large chunks of the roadway have fallen away on the upstream side of the small bridge on South Spring Street, where torrential waters apparently washed large amounts of debris downstream. On the other side, there's a large pile of rocks and other debris -- much of it presumably had been the base structure underneath the bridge. The bridge had been reduced to one lane on Wednesday, and the damaged roadway was clearly unstable on one side.
