The Nevada City Council will be considering bids tonight for a concrete culvert to repair the washed out area of South Spring Street. They will be looking to purchase a culvert that is 66 inches in diameter and 54 feet long to handle the volume of water that runs through the area. The street has been closed since May 18, after torrential rains washed out much of the structure underneath the road and peeled away edges of the roadway.
They will also be considering the appointment of Wendy Barton and Pat Chambers to the tourism board.
Other items on the agenda include a public hearing and first reading of a general ordinance to amend some of the city's sewer charges to bring them into compliance with Missouri Department of Natural Resources regulations so the city will be able to qualify for low interest financing through the State Revolving Loan Fund for rebuilding the sewage treatment plant. The change will affect one commercial metered user.
The council will also be considering an emergency ordinance accepting and approving the bids for the runway rehabilitation at the Nevada Municipal Airport, and a liquor license application for Andy's Pizza, 1403 E. Austin, as well as first readings of an intergovernmental agreement with Vernon County concerning software to be used by both the Nevada Police Department and the Vernon County Sheriff's Office; an amendment to the city's sign ordinance to permit animated signs; an ordinance changing the residency requirements for some city employees; a service agreement with the Council on Families in Crisis to provide education services; and a service agreement with the Children's Center.
Other business on the agenda includes second readings of an ordinance establishing a fee structure for use of the community center; an agreement with Burns & McDonnell Engin-eering Company for construction phase services; an agreement with Challenger Sports Corporation to hold a youth soccer camp in Nevada and a software license and service agreement with Global Software for software for the Nevada Department of Public Safety.
