Robert Irvin Wood
Robert Irvin Wood, 63, Springfield, Mo., died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, in Springfield, after a long illness. He was born April 27, 1944, in the home in Vernon County, Mo., to George A. Wood and Frances M. Wood. He was married in 1992 to Brenda Wood and she preceded him in death in 2001.
Robert spent most of his young life in Vernon County, until he graduated from Sheldon High School, Sheldon. He worked in the tree business and worked as a nurse at the Nevada State Hospital in Nevada, and as a maintenance man at a campground in Hannibal, Mo., and drove a truck in the Kansas City, Mo., area. He also ran a poultry farm in Lone Jack, Mo. He was a man with a big heart and had many interests and hobbies including fishing, hunting, woodworking, playing cards and was a long time sports fan. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his mother, Frances M. Wood, Springfield; sons, Russell Wood and his wife, Susie, Purcell, Mo., Clinton Wood and his wife, Stacy, Carterville, Mo.; one daughter, Amanda Johnson, Nevada; and son, Mike Reed and wife Carol, Webb City; his aunt, Frankie Woody, Lamar, Mo.; sister-in-law, Cheri Wood, Bates City, Mo.; his brother, Robert M. Wood and his wife, Jean, Springfield; nephews, Franklin "Leroy" Wood and his wife, Kathy, Springfield, Dwane Wood and his wife, Laura, Odessa, Mo., Tim Ginnings and his wife, Cheryl, Springfield, Jeff Ginnings, Buffalo, Mo., Jake Wood and his wife, Roberta, Buffalo, and J.R. Wood, Bates City, Mo.; many other aunts uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, spouse and one brother, George F. Wood.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 22, at Olive Branch Cemetery, Milo, with Robert Marshall Wood officiating.
