Nevada Daily Mail
All over the country, Harry Potter fans are anxiously awaiting the next -- and last -- episode in the saga of the young wizard. Soon the waiting will be over. Nevada is no exception.
The seventh and final edition of the popular Harry Potter series of books will arrive in Nevada at 12:01 a.m. on July 21, at Cavener's Library & Office Supplies on the East Side of the Nevada Square. A variety of activities will take place leading up to the "witching hour." The festivities will begin around 7 p.m. on Friday, July 20. The Nevada R-5 jazz band will play, followed by a Harry Potter Jeopardy Competition, a costume contest, a sidewalk art contest and the showing of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." The Dianas will be grilling hotdogs to raise funds for local scholarships.
Participants in the sidewalk art competition are encouraged to work on their project any time during the day on Friday. Sidewalk chalk is provided.
Participating agencies in the festivities include: the Vernon County Arts Council, the Nevada Public Library, the Community Council on the Performing Arts, the Osage Prairie YMCA, University of Missouri Extension and Outreach, the Dianas and Missouri Eagle.
Area residents are invited to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the festivities.
