EMT class starts Sept. 6
The Vernon County Ambulance District will offer a basic Emergency Medical Technician course, starting in September. The three-month class teaches the skills and knowledge needed to perform life-saving medical procedures as an EMT. Persons completing the course will be qualified to take the National Registry EMT written exam and EMT practical skills exam.
Classes are scheduled Mondays and Thursdays, from 6 to 10 p.m.
Enrollees will experience hands-on clinical experience on the ambulance. Course topics will include medical legal ethics, baseline vital signs, transport of patients, infection control, communications and documentation, general pharmacology and responses to a variety of injuries and medical emergencies.
The course fee is $525, which includes a $225 non-refundable uniform and book fee. Advance registration and fee payment are required. The $225 is due upon registration with the balance due by the third class. Register by Aug. 31.
