Rich Hill brings record 3-1

The Rich Hill Tigers fought their way to a 3-1 record on the season with a victory over the Archie Whirlwinds Friday night.

Both teams were fairly evenly matched in most aspects of the game, with completion percentages of 48 percent for Rich Hill for 217 yards, and 50 percent for Archie for 133 yards. Both teams had fairly equal success in the running game, with 176 yards on 33 carries for Archie, and 175 yards on 28 carries for Rich Hill. With 15 first downs and one fumble for each team, but no turnovers by Archie, and two interceptions by Rich Hill, both teams also had fairly even punting statistics as well. Rich Hill was forced to punt the ball six times with an average of 28 yards per kick, while Archie punted seven times with an average of 35 yards. Archie would draw first blood in the first quarter with a 14 yard touchdown completion from Kaleb Bray to Cody Sutton, giving Archie a 7-0 lead. Archie would then follow with another score in the second quarter on a 47-yard touchdown run by Kaleb Bray to make the lead 13-0. Rich Hill would then answer back in the second quarter with a 76-yard touchdown pass from Rusty Thomas to Tyler Rysen and a 1-yard touchdown run by Rusty Thomas, putting Rich Hill on top 14-13. In the third quarter, the Tigers would add to their lead with a 96-yard touchdown run by Rusty Thomas, and a missed extra point, making the lead 20-13.

Archie would try to answer in the fourth quarter with a 16- yard touchdown pass from Kaleb Bray to Cory Young, but would miss the 2-point conversion, making the score 20-19. The Tigers would then come back and close out the game with a 92-yard kickoff return by Tony Rich for another touchdown, leading to a final score of 27-19. Both teams had some issues with penalties, however, with six for Rich Hill and eight for Archie, equating to a net loss of 45 yards, and 75 yards respectively.
