Council to address annexation tonight

The Nevada City Council will be looking at a short agenda when they meet at 7 o'clock tonight in the city council chambers, 110 S. Ash Street.

The council will be holding the second reading of an ordinance setting the 2008 municipal and primary elections, as well as ordinances amending the 2007 budget for the public safety department, annexing property owned by J.C. and Barbara Wiseman in the Deer Run Subdivision and ordinance ratifying and affirming the acquisition of the needed right-of-way for construction of the north interceptor sewer line.

The council also will be holding the first reading of an ordinance amending Chapter 3, Section 3027(c) of the Municipal Code to correct a typographical error.

Among other items on the agenda are proclamations for Fire Prevention Week and Spinal Health Month, bids for caustic soda, an electronic meter and portable radios.

Tentative consideration a resolution changing the name of the soccer field at Walton Park to "The Joe McHugh Memorial Soccer Field" is on the agenda as well.
