Klingaman qualifies for state golf

The Class 1, District 7 MSHSAA Championships were held on Monday, at the Sedalia Country Club. Senior Heather Klingaman led Nevada with a score of 102 and placed her in a tie for 10th place (out of 46 golfers) with Clinton's Amy Benson. Her 10th place finish qualified her for the Class 1 State Championships which will be held Monday, Oct. 15, and Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Republic at the Island Green Golf and Country Club. Klingaman finished her front nine with a 49 but struggled on her back nine with a '9' on her last hole, to put her at a 53, for an 18-hole total of 102. Junior Lakyn Mansfield shot a 110 and placed in 15th. Nicole Campbell shot a 113, which placed her in 18th; Melea Galimberto followed with 117 for 21st; and Emily DeBrine shot a 118 for 24th.

Sedalia Sacred Heart won the team competition with a 416, seven strokes ahead of Greenwood with a 423. Clinton followed with a 424 and Nevada was fourth with a 442. Sacred Heart qualified as a team.
